ECSU’s Boyd & FSU’s Worthy Earn CIAA Bowling Honors

Charlotte, NC – Elizabeth City State University’s Ja’na Boyd has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIAA) Bowler of the Month while Brittany Worthy of Fayetteville State University
earns Rookie Bowler of the Month after their performances during the CIAA
Bowling Round-Up held in Richmond, Virginia February 12-14. Monthly
bowling honors are selected by the Bowling Coaches Association and based
on student-athlete performances.

Boyd was the top bowling individual at the February bowling event,
knocking down a total of 1,971 pins. The Junior played a total of ten
games to mark a personal event-high 233 pins in her first game, for a
final average of 197.10 pins.

Worthy finished fifth overall and was the Broncos leading individual
bowler during the event with a total pin count of 1,972. Playing a total
of nine games, the rookie bowled an average of 199.11 pins per contest
with her highest pin count occurring during her second match of the event
(244 pins).

CIAA bowling teams will meet for their final event before the conference
championship this weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. Event IV will be
hosted by Johnson C. Smith University March 10 – 12 and is free and
open to the public.
