Hampton named one of Virginia’s ‘greenest’ cities by insurance shopping platform

Hampton was named one of the “greenest” cities in Virginia by Insurify, an online car insurance shopping platform. The award recognizes the contributions of residents “towards minimizing your city’s carbon footprint through responsible car ownership.”

Award winners were chosen based on information given to the company for insurance quotes, including vehicle fuel efficiency, engine type, annual mileage and commuting patterns. “Statistics show that cars represent one of the single greatest sources of polluting emissions in the United States,” said Snejina Zacharia, CEO of Massachusetts-based Insurify. “These awards recognize the cities in each state that have the lowest average household impact on the environment, based on vehicle choice and driving habits.”

Other cities named in Virginia include Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax and Virginia Beach
