Langley Federal Credit Union Supports Mariners’ Museum Education Program

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Langley Federal Credit Union donated $5,000 to The
Mariners’ Museum. The funds will be used to update the Age of Exploration
program. The program is one of the Museum’s most requested and will align
with the new social studies standards of learning that officially become
effective in Fall 2018.

“To ensure that we are aligned with the new 2018 standards, we will need
to completely overhaul the program and props that are currently in place,
stated Mariners’ Museum Manager of Student Programs Wisteria Perry. “To
accomplish this and demonstrate how we are all connected to each other
through the world’s water, the Education department will be creating
several different versions of this topic based on grade levels—3rd-5th,
6th-8th and 9th-12th. This donation will help make this program bigger and
better for students.”

For more than 80 years, the history of the ocean and its relationship with
the development of world cultures has been told and displayed in one of
the largest, and most comprehensive, maritime museums in the world. For
