| Newport News Mayor McKinley L. Price and the Department of Parks and Recreation are partnering with Major League Baseball and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula to offer an evening of fun and engaging activities for young people in the city. The 7th Annual Play Ball Event will take place on Wednesday, August 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at TowneBank Athletic Park at 741 Adams Drive. Youth and families are invited to this free event to participate in baseball games and sporting activities while also enjoying free chips and hot dogs. The highlight of “Play Ball” is a baseball game where participants have the chance to compete against city and community leaders on the field. The event also includes a photo booth, music, inflatables, giveaways, and more! Admission and parking are free for all. Registration is not required. This event is part of Major League Baseball’s “Play Ball” initiative, which is supported annually by the United States Conference of Mayors. Mayors across the country host events that highlight the fun nature of baseball and encourage young people to participate in activities. To learn more, visit www.usmayors.org/play-ball.
