Newport News Now

April 3, 2020

To stop the spread of the coronavirus, Governor Northam issued a Stay at Home order to protect the health and safety of Virginians. This order is in effect until June 10, unless the Governor amends or rescinds it.

So what does this mean to Newport News residents and businesses? It means, stay home.

The Governor has limited gatherings to 10 or less, and churches and places of worship are under this same restriction. Do not hold gatherings of 10 people or more, although gatherings of any size should be stopped. This includes gatherings indoors or outside. Wherever you are, maintain a social distance of at least six feet.

Please take a moment to watch this video message from Mayor McKinley Price with important information.

Be kind to one another, check on each other and remember we are all facing the same concerns and uncertainty. This new way of doing things is hard, but we must do it to protect people’s lives.

Stay home and stay safe.
