Norfolk Animal Care Center Hosts Meet Your Match Event

It’s like speed dating, but for finding a perfect foster pet match!

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk Animal Care Center (NACC) is putting a fun spin on finding foster homes for shelter dogs with a special “Meet Your Match” event at the shelter (5585 Sabre Rd.) on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“Meet Your Match” is a speed-dating style event that will give potential foster families the opportunity to meet available dogs one at a time as NACC staff and volunteers bring them out to find their best match. Two one-hour sessions will be offered with 15 spots available during each session. The goal is to pair every available dog with a temporary foster home.

Why foster? Fostering is an excellent option for individuals and families who may not be able to make a long-term commitment to adoption experience the joy of pet companionship. NACC provides all supplies needed to care for foster pets. Fostering also gives pets a break from the shelter and the opportunity to relax in a home setting where their true personalities can shine. During the month of August, adoption fees for all animals are half off and adoption fees for senior pets (seven years and older) are waived as part of the Clear the Shelters™, a month-long, nationwide annual pet adoption campaign led by NBCUniversal to help as many animals as possible find loving homes. The campaign is designed to encourage more adoptions and make room for incoming animals as the shelter is operating near capacity.
