NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State baseball players Matt Outman and Kevin Granger picked up weekly MEAC baseball honors on Monday, with Outman earning Pitcher of the Week accolades and Granger receiving the Rookie of the Week award.

Outman (1-0) tossed a six-hit shutout in Sunday’s 16-0 win over NJIT. The Preseason MEAC Pitcher of the Year struck out seven and walked none in earning his first win of the year and notching his third career shutout. Outman, who won the weekly MEAC award three times last year, picked up his first such honor this season and fourth in his career.

Granger batted .375 (3-for-8) with two steals and two RBI last week. Granger, who played first and third base as well as designated hitter last week, had the first two stolen bases on his career in a loss to Lehigh to start the week, then had one RBI in both games of a doubleheader Sunday with NJIT. He hit an RBI double in the NJIT series-opener. This is Granger’s first career MEAC weekly honor.
