Portsmouth ’s Olde Towne Cultural Arts District Features Two Signature Events

(PORTSMOUTH, VA – September 11, 2019) – Make plans to bring the whole family to Portsmouth’s Olde Towne Cultural Arts District this Saturday, September 14. First, check out the Doors, Porches & Gardens Tour . It’s a walking tour of more than 30 hidden gems and secret gardens in this lovely historic Olde Towne neighborhood dating back to 1740. Musical entertainment, historical re-enactors and plein air artists will be performing for your enjoyment.

The Hill House Museum will also be participating in this event. Come check out the gardens and meet “Lizzy Hill,” one of the Hill sisters who lived in the house and who was known for her gardening expertise.

Tickets are $10 and available at the Little Shoppes on High and at Anderson-Wright Rooms and Gardens on High Street beginning August 1. Tickets are also available at Greenwich Park on North and Dinwiddie streets the day of the event. Children 10 and younger are free. Maker Fest Portsmouth comes to the Children’s Museum of Virginia and the Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center Saturday, September 14, at 10 a.m. Designed for the do-it-yourselfers, Maker Fest features hands-on interactive displays and activities and demonstrations. It’s all about the do-it-yourself spirit in all of us. The ultimate goal of the Maker Fest Portsmouth is to engage and excite children, families and adults to explore DIY culture and become Makers themselves.
