TOWNEBANK EXHIBIT AT THE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF VIRGINIA GRAND REOPENING

(PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA – JULY 11, 2019) – On Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. the Children’s Museum of Virginia will unveil the newly updated TowneBank exhibit to the general public. TowneBank and the TowneBank Foundation made the upgrades to this exhibit possible. The exhibit, which opened in 2002, was last updated in 2012.

As they enter, a large cutout of Town E. Bear, the bank’s mascot, will greet children and guests creating the perfect photo opportunity. The well-loved TowneBank Beetle car has also been updated and an upgraded, interactive teller window with call buttons and a pneumatic tube make it fun for kids to talk directly to the teller. Exciting new features include a fun oversized calculator, a refreshed bank vault with a spinnable handle, and a number pattern combination activity on the safe deposit boxes. The most exciting change will be the Making Change interactive floor projection activity where children can step on bills and coins to break them into smaller pieces. The goal of the exhibit is to create an environment where children can learn financial literacy concepts through interactive games while having fun.

“We are thrilled to have TowneBank as a long time community partner and sponsor at the Children’s Museum of Virginia” says Nancy S. Perry, director of the Portsmouth Museums. “The mission of the museum is to be a place where children are encouraged to imagine, explore, and discover together through play. Thanks to partners like TowneBank, we are able to do just that!”
