2023-24 Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities Commission Grants Now Open

By: City of Virginia Beach

The Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities Commission (AHC) is pleased to announce its annual Project Grant program is now accepting applications. The grants are open to non-profit organizations whose missions include providing arts, humanities, history or cultural programming and services, and provide programming in Virginia Beach.

Project Grant awards cover up to 50% of the total cost of projects supported by the grant, and support eligible projects occurring between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024. The final deadline for applications is Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at 5 p.m. Organizations do not need to be based in Virginia Beach to apply, but eligible projects must take place in Virginia Beach.

Presentations will be made in person, or via WebEx, in late March 2023. Awards and contracts will be issued in the late spring/summer for the upcoming fiscal year.

In addition, 2022-23 Leadership & Organizational Development Grants are still open to application. These grants, which may be up to $750 per awardee, support local arts and humanities leaders’ (professional administrators and board members) acquisition of skills and practical tools to hone their ability to lead, develop and sustain the health and vitality of their organizations.

Leadership & Organizational Development Grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified applications. Applicant organizations must operate within Hampton Roads, and applications are due no less than 12 business days prior to an AHC meeting. Visit virginiabeach.gov/culture to view the meeting schedule.

Grant workshops will also be available in January to assist with the application process. Workshops will be held virtually from noon to 1:30 p.m., except for the final session, which is in-person at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, 201 Market St., from 3-5 p.m. See below for details.
