| Tomorrow is the last day to respond to the Community Safety Survey. Please take 15-20 minutes to offer your perspective on safety in Newport News. We especially need young people to provide insight on the issues they believe affect our city and offer suggestions for the path forward. City leadership will use the results to invest in community organizations that provide actionable and sustainable solutions that address gun violence. We are finalizing the grant application and are planning a pre-application session for interested community-based organizations. We also plan to hold a Grants 101 workshop to help potential applicants better understand the grantmaking process. Information on both sessions and the grant portal will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, community organizations are invited to provide their contact information and a brief description of their efforts on the Community Safety Initiative webpage. When details are finalized, we will send an email to registered organizations. Organizations do not need to register on the webpage to apply for the grant; this part of the process is being completed to ensure interested organizations receive updates during the process. |
