By: City of Portmouth’s

The Training Staff and Fire Administration of Portsmouth Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services will host the Commencement Ceremony for Hampton Roads Fire Academy Recruit Class 45.  The public is cordially invited to attend the ceremony which will be held on Thursday, September 15th, at 3 p.m. in the Portsmouth City Council Chamber, 801 Crawford Street—6th Floor.  Light refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony.

The City of Norfolk will be conducting a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) performance test on Tuesday, September 13th, at 3 p.m.  Because it will take place in the Berkley/Campostella section of Norfolk, there is potential for nearby Portsmouth and Chesapeake residents, or anyone travelling in the vicinity, to receive the text alert on their device.  If you receive the test message, it will clearly state that it is a test and it will last 15 minutes.  The message will also include a survey link that will be optional for you to complete.
