The Newport News Department of Juvenile Services is holding a free family-friendly event showcasing local community services and programs available to all citizens. The organizations participating in the event are recipients of Gun Violence Intervention Program grants that were recently awarded by the city

Families with youth ages 12-24 are especially encouraged to attend the information fair this Friday, Dec. 9, from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Newport News Police Community Room at 9710 Jefferson Ave. Free gifts, raffle prizes, and food will be offered.

Come learn about a variety of services from mentoring and conflict resolution, to self-actualization and family counseling services from organizations including: Boxing 2 Live, Center for Child & Family Services, Community Builders Network, The HEB Foundation, INC., Hampton Roads Urban Agriculture, Ketchmore Kids, Let our Voices Empower, Newport News Police Foundation, What’s Next: Breaking Barriers for Success, Quality of Life Counseling Center, Sister to Sister, THRIVE Peninsula, Today Jesus Outreach, Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas, the Workforce Council, Creating Scholars Through Therapy, Foundations to Success, and Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads.
