Four Oaks Day Services and Training Center Adjusts Hours for Winter; Job Fair Planned for Jan. 26

For those experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless, the Four Oaks Day Services and Training Center in Newport News is a beacon of hope and opportunity. Four Oaks offers men, women, and families a variety of supports while connecting them to comprehensive community services under one roof, all thanks to on-site partners. A variety of wraparound services are provided, including workforce development assistance and counseling on permanent housing solutions, to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness gain self-sufficiency.  Four Oaks has adjusted their hours to support homeless individuals during the harsh winter months. From now until March 24, the center is open from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Four Oaks is open seven days a week, including holidays and is located at 7401 Warwick Boulevard.  One of the key priorities of Four Oaks is to connect individuals with employment opportunities and provide workforce development supports. They are hosting their first job fair and hiring event of 2022 on Wednesday, January 26 from 10 a.m. until noon. During this event, individuals can speak with employers with immediate job openings while also learning about available community resources. The goal is for participants to leave with solid job leads and potentially job offers. Registration is not required and the event is free and open to all. These job fairs will be hosted at Four Oaks on the last Wednesday of every month. Employers and vendors interested in participating should contact Corey Hampton at hamptoncd@nnva.gov.
