Frozen Fun in Newport News this Weekend

Free Winter Carnival on Sat.; Synthetic skating rink open Fri.-Sun.
Dreary winter days have many of us looking forward to summer (142 more days, but who’s counting?). That’s why the City of Newport News is hosting a Winter Carnival to celebrate all that is frozen this Saturday, Feb. 4, noon-5 p.m. at 401 Oriana Road (the former Kmart site).  The festivities are centered around a 4,000+ square foot synthetic skating rink, which will be open to all from Friday, Feb. 3 through Sunday, Feb. 5. Glide from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and noon-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free and skates are provided. The Winter Carnival kicks off at noon on Saturday with games, face painting, candy apple treats, crafts, a hot chocolate bar, photo ops, and a DJ. Games, activities, parking, and admission are all free.
