Obituary for Clarence Sessoms

Clarence L. Sessoms, 93, went home to the Lord on May 28, 2017. Clarence was born in Ahoskie, NC and raised in Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris M. Ses-soms.

He was a retired educator and administrator in Norfolk Public Schools, Recreation Supervisor for the VA Department of Corrections, and student teacher coordinator for Elizabeth City State University. Deacon Sessoms was an active member of First Calvary Baptist Church, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and held memberships in numerous organizations.

He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Abbott; son, Glenn D. Sessoms (Linda) of Memphis TN; daughter, Daun S. Hester (Quincey) of Norfolk, VA and Debra Sessoms, daughter-in-law of Jacksonville, FL. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, great grandchildren, neph-ews and nieces, relatives and close friends too numerous to mention.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, 215 Las Gaviotas Blvd., Chesapeake. The Omega Service will begin at 11a.m. followed by his homegoing celebration at 11:30a.m. Internment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Nor-folk.
