Sheriff’s Office to Host Free Shred Day
This Saturday, June 27, the Newport News Sheriff’s Office is hosting its annual Shred Day from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Todd Stadium (12465 Warwick Boulevard). Residents are invited to bring papers that contain sensitive information to this free drive-through event (no businesses, please).
Sheriff Gabe Morgan hosts Shred Day annually to protect residents from identity theft. Among the items to consider shredding are sensitive documents and/or mail with your name, address, account information, e-mail address, telephone number, etc.
Drivers should access Todd Stadium by turning onto Minton Drive from Warwick Boulevard; you cannot enter directly from Warwick Boulevard. Sheriff’s Office personnel will direct drivers and remove documents from the vehicles for them to be destroyed on-site. To minimize wait times, please put papers in bags, not boxes. Boxes cannot be shredded and will be returned to you after being emptied.
For more information, visit the Shred Day Facebook page.
