U.S. Department of Defense

This year, the Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cybersecurity is hosting the third annual CAE Virtual Career Fair (VCF), sponsored by CyberWatch West (CWW) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), on September 27, 2019 from 9:00am-1:00pm PT.

Our virtual career fair is unique in that we invite students/alumni from 270+ institutions designated as CAEs in Research (CAE-R), Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), Cyber Operations (CAE-CO)to participate. Institutions receive the CAE in Cybersecurity designation after meeting the rigorous requirements of the program set forth by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The standards set forth by the NSA/DHS curriculum guidelines also ensure students from CAE institutions receive a quality cybersecurity education that prepares them for a career the cyber workforce.

As the CAE in Cybersecurity program continues to designate new CAEs, the number of students participating in the CAE VCF is expected to grow. Last year, 1200+ students/alumni participated in the CAE VCF.This year, the community has an estimated 10,000+ students graduating from junior colleges and universities seeking jobs in cybersecurity. In addition, our community has an estimated 20,000+ students that are eligible for internships in the 2019-2020 academic year. Students/alumni from CAE designated institutions are extremely valuable to any organization as they must meet the rigorous curriculum requirements set forth by the NSA/DHS in order to graduate.

Since this is our third year hosting this event, we also have some insight into how our event is received by students/alumni and employers. Survey data from the 2017 and 2018 event indicate the CAE VCF is positively received by both employers and students that participate in our event. Many students find careers through our event and many of the same employers return year after year to participate. This year as we transition to a new virtual conferencing platform with more customization and booth options, we only expect the level of user satisfaction to increase.

We encourage all interested in this event to register quickly as this event is likely to fill fast.
