Wind, rain could batter Hampton, region starting Friday until noon Saturday

April 18, 2019 – The National Weather Service said there is a potential for severe weather across much of Hampton Roads starting Friday and lasting until noon Saturday. Hampton’s Emergency Management Office said the city is expected to receive about 1.24 inches of rain, with wind gusts above 35 miles per hour throughout the day. No tidal flooding is predicted.

The weather service said conditions will be favorable for tornadoes across southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina. More details are expected, but residents are encouraged to consider their severe weather safety plans now so they can act quickly if the weather does become a threat.
